Silence is the sleep that nourishes Wisdom

WHAT IS MEDITATION?
A RECONNECTION TO SOURCE
In a tiny nutshell, Meditation is the primary, conscious path to achieving a state of mindfulness. It is a technique of focusing our attention on a particular object, thought, or activity in order to calm & still the mind, but not necessarily to empty it. Meditation is about 'Being' rather than 'Doing'. It is about observing the thoughts rather than controlling them. The English word meditation is derived from the Latin verb meditari, meaning "to think, contemplate, devise, ponder".
Meditation has been practiced since antiquity in numerous religious traditions, often as part of the path towards enlightenment and self realization. The earliest records of meditation (Dhyana), come from the Hindu traditions of Vedantism. Since the 19th century, Asian meditative techniques have spread to other cultures.
WHAT IS VIPASSANA?
OBSERVING & EXPERIENCING WITH EQUANIMITY
Vipassana means 'to see things as they really are'. It is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. It was rediscovered by Gotama Buddha more than 2500 years ago and was taught by him as a universal remedy for universal ills.
Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation, focusing the attention on the physical sensations happening in the body and the reactions of the mind.
